The internationally renowned and beloved Brown Sugar Kitchen in Oakland, CA has been in business since 2008. Acclaimed for her inventive take on modern soul food, as well as comfort classics, Tanya Holland is the Executive Chef/Owner of Brown Sugar Kitchen. Brown Sugar Kitchen’s offerings are made of locally grown, organic and seasonal ingredients whenever possible. The menu reflects Tanya Holland’s unique interpretation of soul food which is influenced by her family history of entertaining family and friends, formal training at La Varenne Ecole de Cuisine in France and love of food from a wide variety of cultures. Holland is the author of two cookbooks including The Brown Sugar Kitchen Cookbook and New Soul Cooking.
